About Morrissey
Morrissey, Inc. was founded in 1946 by Paul Morrissey Donovan as a short-run metal stamping company. Mr. Donovan headed the company until his death in 1965.
Roy G. Boeser, former CEO, joined the firm in 1959 as a punch press operator and worked his way through the company to become President and Owner by 1982.
In 1992, Roy felt strongly that the company was ready for a fundamental change. Instead of selling the company to an individual owner, he chose to sell a portion of the company stock to the employees. As a result, Morrissey is now an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company. Roy did this because he felt that the employees are Morrissey's strongest asset and they should benefit from their commitment to the corporation.
ESOP companies are beneficial to customers because every employee feels personally responsible for production, quality, and the delivery schedule as well as for profitable growth through continuous improvement. Ideas are valued and opinions are sought out at every level, carrying equal weight in the initial stages of new program development.
In the summer of 1998, Roy and Pat Boeser passed on the ownership of the company to David Mealman, the executive vice president and long time employee with Morrissey, Inc. Dave started in 1983 as a toolmaker and over the next fifteen years progressed through the company ranks. With Dave's background, Morrissey received a company status as a disabled veteran owned business in 2002.
Dave believes the foundation that he developed on the shop floor has aided him in helping customers bring new projects to the market in a very timely manner.
Morrissey is committed to employee education, training and personal growth. Perhaps this is the reason that 25% of the employees have ten or more years of service.
Located in Bloomington, Minnesota, just ten minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Morrissey's 50,000 square-foot facility is home for all administration, production and support functions.
With approximately 77 employees, all cross-trained for other work stations and departments, Morrissey operates two shifts with an optional third shift to avoid work center overload. All processes are designed to conform to ISO9001:2008 standards.
